Vermont Beer Dinner to Benefit the Mad River Path

21 Jun

Our July 9th Vermont beer dinner will benefit the Mad River Path Association. The VT beer dinner is the official kick off for the Vermont Festival of the Great Outdoors, the event will take place outside, overlooking the Round Barn and the Mad River Valley’s pastoral countryside. Choosing to donate a portion from each sale of the dinner to the Mad River Path Association seemed “hand in hand”.

The Mad River Path is a series of walkways in the Valley. This trail system has something for everyone, including the family dog.

The main path is the Mad River Greenway which is located in the nationally recognized Mad River Valley Rural Historic District. The path is 7 feet wide and is a natural path along the Mad River. It offers scenic views of the Valley and surrounding Green Mountains. The path has a mowed grass surface with a slightly worn single track. It is suitable for mountain bikes and attracts trail walkers, runners, and dog walkers. A long loop can be made by linking the Mad River Path, Meadow Road, and North Road passing through the Pine Brook Covered Bridge.

From Madriverpath.com

The mission of the Mad River Path Association is to build, maintain, support and conserve a system of continuous public pathways from Warren to Moretown to foster a healthy community by connecting the people, schools, businesses and special places of the Mad River Valley.

The Mad River Path is a work in progress that
began in 1987. It is managed and maintained by the Mad River Path
Association, a small, member-supported non- profit organization. The goal
of connecting people, communities, schools, businesses, special places
and the four towns – Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston and Moretown – with a
continuous system of recreational trails requires a great deal of support,
both financially and physically, to ensure that the Path remains a permanent
community asset. We are continually working on securing permanent trail
easements, soliciting and administrating grants, sponsoring fundraising
events, connecting with local schools and civic groups, and organizing
trail work parties. The Association is proud to be part of a community that values
recreation, conservation and our beautiful natural resources. As a non-profit
organization, donations are tax deductible, and as a public and free local
resource, time spent volunteering and money spent protetcting the Path
brings back untold returns by making our small piece of the world
a better place. With your help, we can build one more bridge, create
one more trail, and get one step closer to completing the Mad River Path.

The Mad River Valley is comprised of the towns of Moretown, Fayston, Waitsfield and Warren. The Vermont beer dinner on Friday july 9th at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm will feature those farms from those towns, the “valley” and throughout Vermont. If you choose to book the Vermont Farm and Beer Experience at the Round Barn you’ll enjoy even more of those farms; every morning for breakfast and every afternoon for our afternoon snacks. The Farms of the Mad River Valley are easy to find and many are open to visitors stopping in, in fact many of them are honored and welcome people who share in their interest. If you are staying with us at the inn you can ask your innkeeper about the local farms perhaps even calling ahead to arrange for a little tour from the farmer themselves. You can also head out early on Saturday morning and hit the Farmer’s Market right in downtown Waitsfield always fun and exciting.

Below is a map of the Mad River Valley and our “food shed”, produced by our Localvore chapter. The map, only about a year old, is already due for revision, the number of Valley farms has grown!
